About the Course

Club Campestre El Rodeo is Medellín's private in-city championship course, an 18-hole, par-72 layout of 6,788 yards set against the Aburrá Valley skyline beside Olaya Herrera airport. The hillside routing climbs the western valley slope, so nearly every hole plays with elevation change and views across the city's high-rises. As a fully private club, play is for members, their guests, and reciprocal-club visitors, with caddies guiding every round. Beyond golf, the Medellín sede offers 14 clay tennis courts, squash, padel, riding stables, a heated pool, gym, and restaurants — a full country-club day in the heart of a city of five million.

What golfers love

5 PROS

A genuine championship course inside a major city — valley and skyline views from most holes, a rare urban-golf experience.

Demanding hillside routing with real elevation change and challenging, sloped greens.

Caddies included in the culture (~$15) — experienced, knowledgeable, and essential on a slope-heavy layout.

Full country-club amenities: 14 clay tennis courts, squash, padel, riding, heated pool, spa/massage, gym, restaurants.

Officially rated 18 holes, par 72, Federation-approved, with five tee sets from 5,002 to 6,788 yards.

Things to know

4 CONS

Fully private and gated — no public access; play requires a member host, hotel-arranged confirmed tee time, or reciprocal-club status.

No carts — walking with a caddie only, which is demanding on the hilly routing for less-mobile golfers.

Very little English spoken by desk/wait staff; Spanish helps (members and some caddies speak English).

City setting means urban noise and nearby high-rises rather than a secluded countryside feel.

Local Tips

GET THE MOST OUT OF YOUR ROUND

01

Take a caddie

Take a caddie — they know the slopes, breaks, and blind shots, and the ~$15 cost is modest for the help.

02

Book in advance through a member or hotel

Book through a member or have your hotel arrange and confirm the tee time in advance; you will not get past the gate without it.

03

Expect to walk a hilly course

Expect to walk a hilly course — wear proper golf shoes and pace yourself.

04

Bring Spanish phrases

Bring Spanish phrases or a Spanish-speaking playing partner; staff English is limited.

05

Allow time after the round

Allow time after the round for the pool, spa, or a meal — the club's amenities are a big part of the visit.
